Getting my feet back on the ground

After the ordeal of getting here (even though very smooth and without hiccups of any kind) does leave one lagging a bit.  It's always important to not rush off to some other city.  Stay.  Relax for a few days.  Get your body in the right time zone.  In Rome, staying at a lovely apartment in the Piazza Farnese:

Of course, the Farnese clan dates back to the 10th century, being a family that benefited from the feudal system.  There are dukes, cardinals, and even a Pope- Pope Paul III, seen here in this portrait by Titian, looking a bit withered and, should I say, a bit creepy.  Here with Cardinal Alessandro Farnese and Duke Ottavio Farnese:

But, of course, the most fabulous Farnese is La Bella Farnese.  Giulia Farnese, the long term mistress of Rodrigo Borgia, Pope Alexander VI:

Today, though, was just lots of wandering around.  Over the Tiber to Trastevere, wandering the lovely streets with their colorful foliage, graffiti, and nonchalant beauty:

And then, lunch at Ba'Ghetto, in the Jewish quarter.  Osso Bucco love:
