Weekend joys!

Ah, la fine settimana! So marvelous.  I enjoy sleeping in a bit, wandering around the empty city, going to the Conad for goodies.  Why is it that shopping in another country is so fascinating?  To me, it is.  I'm so curious about food.  In Italian supermarkets, most of the floor space is taken up by produce, two bakeries-one for breads and the other for pastries and cakes, a huge cheese and dairy section, a meat section and a very large fish department.  The prepared foods aisle is miniscule.  The packaged foods, largely dried beans and pastas, take up an aisle.  And then there's coffee.  And chocolate.  Ma che bonta! (Oh, what goodness):

VERY famous and well-loved song by Mina :)

Back to shopping:

I always do the Conad run first, while I'm fresh.  It is a massive climb down and up, and when you are carrying your groceries.... it's rough.

Then a wander to the park.  There is a wee park right next to my apartment that features this lovely shrine.  I always give Mary a nod when I pass.

And then I walked to the other part of the hilltop, toward the fortress.  I discovered this darling public park with all sorts of sweetness:

And here's a video to show you some other things of interest:

A presto!
