Feast day of Saint Crescentino

Saint Crescentino is the patron saint of Urbino.  If you are ever here, don't say you've never heard of the guy.  Urbino-ites are quite in love with the guy and devoted to his story, his conversion to Christianity, and mostly his gloriously Roman legs and feet.  Robust, muscular, looks great in sandals (no white socks here).  He's quite glorious:

June 1st is his feast day.  I saw on a poster that mass was at 5:00 so I thought it might be interesting.  The place was packed!  Literally.  All pews, aisles, standing room, out the church and down the stairs.  The procession included the Bishop, about 15 priests, the Knights of Malta and a Boy Scout troop.  Also, about 10 kids had their First Communion.  The Bishop's homily was FOREVER... I thought I was gunna die.  And so did the man next to me.  He kept muttering, "mama mia" under his breath.

Here is the huge red banner that will lead the procession:

After communion, I left.  It was already 2 hours!  Here they are positioning the banner.  Inside, prepping to take the huge statue of San Crescentino for a walk through the city.

OY!
